Air Conditioning — common questions
How quickly can you get here?
During summer we prioritise no-cooling calls and aim for same or next-day attendance. Call us early in the day for the best chance of a same-day slot.
How do you decide what size system I need?
We run a heat-load calculation based on your home's size, insulation, window area, orientation and layout. Over-sizing is the most common installation mistake — it cools too fast to remove humidity and cycles itself to an early death.
When should AC maintenance be done?
Spring, before the first hot spell. Booking in April or May means any parts we find are ordered and fitted well before you actually need cooling.
How do I know it's time to replace?
Age over 12–15 years, rising power bills, repeated repairs, or a system still running R-22 refrigerant all point to replacement. We use the 50% rule: if the repair costs more than half a new system, replace it.
What does an AC service call include?
A full diagnostic of the system: refrigerant charge, airflow, electrical connections, controls and drainage. You get a plain-English explanation of what we found and what it costs to fix, before we start.
What's the difference between a tune-up and maintenance?
In practice they overlap heavily. A tune-up focuses on cleaning, calibration and performance testing; a maintenance plan bundles that visit with filters, reminders and priority scheduling.
