Heat Pumps Services

One system that heats in winter and cools in summer — and attracts the largest rebates available in British Columbia.

The Lower Mainland's mild winters are close to ideal for air-source heat pumps. They rarely face the sustained deep cold that limits performance elsewhere in Canada, which is why uptake here has been so rapid.

FAQ

Heat Pumps — common questions

Do heat pumps work in BC winters?

Yes — well. Modern cold-climate units hold useful capacity well below freezing, and our coastal winters rarely test those limits. For colder inland areas we often recommend dual-fuel as a backstop.

Why is my heat pump frozen over?

Some frost and an automatic defrost cycle is normal in winter. Ice that doesn't clear points at a defrost control, sensor or refrigerant fault — that one needs a technician.

How often should a heat pump be serviced?

We recommend twice a year — before the heating season and before the cooling season — precisely because it runs in both.

How long do heat pumps last?

Typically 12–15 years, sometimes longer with consistent maintenance. Coastal salt exposure shortens that noticeably if the equipment wasn't coastal-rated.

Can you service a heat pump another company installed?

Yes. We service all brands regardless of the original installer.

What does a heat pump tune-up cover?

Coil cleaning, refrigerant charge verification, airflow measurement, defrost cycle testing, electrical connections and control calibration.
